WE all use our limbs so we have injuries and disorders with our arms, hands, wrists, elbows, neck and shoulders. Legs can be affected along with our hips, ankles and feet plus some back problems with repetitive activities.
Overuse, awkward postures cause these disorders, work activities which are frequent and repetitive may be painful during work or rest. Various names of WMDs Repetitive motion injury Repetitive strain injuries Cumulative trauma disorders Occupational cervicobrachial disorders Overuse syndrome Regional musculoskeletal disorders Soft tissue disorders Varying stages of progress from mild to severe. The earlier people recognize symptoms the quicker they should respond to them, the quicker you heal. Changing the posture and habits can be sustainable, our bodies tell us when we are in pain, that’s when you change your positioning and posture. Yes, our bodies go back and forth from productive healthy habits to non-healthy habits and postures, this is normal. When you are mindful of noticing your body in pain and to adjust you posture/position and you start to feel better, you are now creating a new habit that is mindful to your body and health. Selfcare Ergonomics evaluates the work station and suggests adjustments within the existing space. If a recommendation involves a purchase, then several recommendations are offered. Evaluations are about avoiding injuries and changing habits. As an evaluator I’m trained to recognize posture and habits you may not be aware you are doing. Evaluations are beneficial to your organization because they highlight potential injuries and provide support for return to work plans. Recommendations create purchasing power, satisfaction, comfort, increased productivity, less time off, lower medical costs and appointments.
